KISAN II, grantee Sana Kisan Krishi Sahakari Sanstha Ltd of Shantinagr-7 of Dang district has been providing its services to its members and farmers of Shantinagar Rural Municipality as well as to the farmers of Babai Rural Municipality. Since its establishment, farmers have been receiving services such as saving, credit, loan, fertilizers, collection of milk and many others.

 

At present, SKKSS is working to make its member farmers more familiar with digital technology and increasing the use of ICT (Information, Communication and Technology). To achieve this goal, SKKSS is focused on being familiar with the use of different applications for various administrative and strategic purposes. As a part of this, GeoKrishi in collaboration with SKKSS got an opportunity to orient the use of GeoKrishi, which is a mobile based application containing the information related to efficient agriculture and livestock production methods including weather forecast, crop protection and pest management.

The BLP (Business Literacy Program) classes of KISAN II also provides information to the members about ICT tools and technologies. The members are now aware on use of different mobile applications that are useful in daily agricultural practices. The BLP classes has given good impact on the members to be familiar with different mobile applications with the benefits on using those applications on daily life.

 

As a part of the ICT classes, staff members of SKKSS were oriented on use of GeoKrishi mobile application and now the staffs of SKKSS are motivated to continue the use of GeoKrishi application. Till date around 300 members have installed this application and they are using it for different purposes ranging from calculation of quantity of fertilizers and seed, selection of variety of seeds, time of cultivation, cost benefit analysis, identification of disease and pest, application of pesticides and insecticides as per the problem. Additional information related to livestock production, weather forecast and market price of different districts and provinces are also included in the application.

 

With the help of this tool, the members of SKKSS are now able to calculate the right quantity of fertilizers and seeds while purchasing from cooperative and agrovets. In the same way, the members are using this application for identification of diseases, pest and other problems of plants and livestock. The members take photos of the problems and send it through this application and within 24 hours, they get response from the team of application experts with the correct diagnosis and solutions too through this app. The market price information provided through this app helped farmers to understand the value of the particular crop in market. This information helped them to make the crop production plan.

 

GeoKrishi farm application has been found very useful to the members and they have responded to be happy for getting the chance to make use of this application. One of the member and application user from SKKSS Mr. Bhupendra Khatri said, “I use this application before going to agrovets for buying of agri inputs and even for calculation of fertilizers and seed while buying it from the cooperative”. Also, other member confess that GeoKrishi helped them to make a decision before, during and after planting of crops or livestock rearing.
